Why We Reach for Certain Things Again
A soft towel after washing your hands. A hand cream that spreads smoothly across your skin. Among things that do the same job, we often have a favorite because we like how it feels.
Those small sensations have a place at the end of the day, too. A familiar scent or a change into soft clothes can make an ordinary routine more enjoyable.
In its 2026 beauty and personal care predictions, published in October 2025, market research firm Mintel forecast a growing role for sensory experiences, including fragrance and texture, in how people choose products.
That perspective raises a question about foot soaking. Alongside the warmth, what about the texture? How would those few minutes feel if the water slowly turned into soft gel?
What Does Jelly Feel Like Around Your Feet?
Gently stirring the water helps it gradually turn into soft slush gel.
OVER THE WENZDAY’s Foot Healing Day and Foot Relaxing Day start with STEP 1 powder added to warm water. With your feet in the basin, stir gently as the water gradually takes on a slush-gel texture.
Small, soft gel particles fill the space around your feet and move as you move. Noticing the change from the first dip into water to the texture of the gel is part of the experience.
Foot Healing Day has a sunset-inspired yellow hue, while Foot Relaxing Day is mint-colored. The color you see and the texture you feel become part of the time you spend soaking.
If a gel foot soak is new to you, move your feet slowly and notice how it feels. People have different preferences when it comes to texture; there is no particular sensation you need to expect.
Warmth While You Sit
One of the things we hope for when preparing a foot soak is warmth that lasts while we sit. The slush gel in both products is designed to help retain that warmth. How warm it feels and how quickly it cools will vary with the starting temperature, the amount of water, and the room.
The product directions specify water at approximately 38–40°C and a soak of 15–20 minutes after adding STEP 1. For water amount and dosage, check the Foot Healing Day and Foot Relaxing Day product pages.
You might read a few more pages of a book or simply sit for a while. Preparing a place to soak your feet creates a small opportunity to pause what you were doing.
How Do You Clear Away the Gel?
If this is your first gel foot soak, you may have questions about cleanup as well as texture. Once the water has turned into gel, how do you empty the basin?
After soaking, add STEP 2 powder and gently stir with your feet, massaging for another 3–5 minutes. The gel gradually becomes more fluid. STEP 2 is also the exfoliating foot-care stage, designed to help gently smooth rough skin.
Some gel particles may remain after STEP 2. Once the mixture has become sufficiently fluid, go ahead and dispose of the water. The particles don’t disappear completely, but they won’t clog your pipes. One reviewer worried the gel might clog or back up the drain, but found it wasn’t a problem. If your pipes clog easily, you can flush it down the toilet instead.
Rinse your feet lightly with lukewarm water and dry them before standing up. Gel on your feet can be slippery, so keep a towel within reach before you begin.
There is one more detail to check when choosing a basin. The product directions advise against using the gel directly in foot spas with circulation pumps or filters, as it may affect how they work. Use a plain foot-soaking basin suitable for the product.
A Foot Soak You Might Look Forward To
For a foot soak to become part of everyday life, preparing it and clearing it away need to feel manageable. Curiosity about the changing texture might draw you in the first time. Enjoying that texture could be a reason to return.
Sunset-hued Foot Healing Day and mint-colored Foot Relaxing Day were made with that enjoyable return in mind. You can explore each product’s features and full instructions on its product page.
A pleasant texture can be one small reason to enjoy taking a break. This Wednesday evening, make room to sit for a while and notice the warmth and softness around your feet.
